French Terracotta Confit Pot with Umber Glaze
French Terracotta Confit Pot with Umber Glaze
SKU: SKU: FJ-5-2203
This vintage confit pot is a beautiful example of French terracotta pottery in a deep umber glaze. Confit pots or jars were originally used to preserve cooked meat in its own fat. Only the interiors and the top half of the jars were glazed, and the bottom was wrapped in cloth and buried in the ground up to the glaze line.
French confit jars have long been used as decorative items, and make a perfect utensil jar, vase for flowers (use an inner water container), or anywhere in the home that needs a unique touch. The elegant form and neutral colors blend seamlessly into almost any interior.
